Evil Portland

Welcome to Portland! A nice summer outing is along the Willamette River at George Rogers Park. Bring a paddle board or kayak! Then stroll through the neighborhood over to the promenade to get fabulous French pastries at St. Honoré Boulangerie and eat them overlooking Lake Oswego.

Notice anything odd along the way?

Lake Oswego’s fancy waterfront real estate is graced with public art whose theme is dismembered bodies. At the base of the ramp are the body parts of Icarus who “flew too close to the sun.” But the myth had his waxed wings disintegrating, not his head and limbs!

His torso is displayed beside a railroad crossing. Could it be a warning to people who could be smashed to bits if, like Icarus, they aim above their station?
"Fortuna" or Fate

Conjecture, of course. But why is the focal point of the central plaza an armless figure carrying a huge burden on its head like a slave or peasant? Three more amputee statues are nearby. Why does such an affluent area have at its heart a depiction of resigned oppression?

Have you heard about art being used as a reminder to keep criminal accomplices in line? That’s the thought that struck me on my innocent excursion. I didn’t really know till 2016 about the secret societies who form our depraved ruling elite. How do they maintain obedience in their underlings?
And the CIA promulgated the contagion of abstract art. Do we really know why?

Did you know that art is widely used to launder money? You buy some hideous “artwork” on the record for a million dollars along with (off the books) a shipment of drugs, trafficked humans, or other contraband. The art can serve as a symbol of the crime so the compromised parties don’t forget their vulnerability and allegiances. Elevating a complicit artist can also serve to strengthen the effect, especially if, say, he’s commissioned by cathedrals.

Seems nice

How high up does corruption go? Despite its luxury, Lake Oswego probably just houses lower middle management in the hierarchy of top-level racketeers. Of course lots of folks get super-rich without being compromised. And they may join the Masons just to network for business. And become a Shriner to help sick kids. And worship Baal just to go along to get along.

...or Baphomet

Want to go back to the French bakery? Look past the avenue of trees. The elegant pergola beyond the armless “Fortuna” statue showcases more mutilated anatomical abominations. Casting for an explanation, I asked my companion, “Do you find anything appealing about these? What kind of people do you think decided this is what they want their neighbors to look at?” My friend just shook her head. I’m not ignorant about art; on the contrary, I’ve lingered in most of the great museums of the world and even fantasized in college about becoming an expert like my hero Bernard Berenson (before I found out he was a con artist.) Even if the severed body parts don’t serve the nefarious purpose I’ve surmised, they certainly suggest an unwholesome bent in municipal decision makers in Lake Oswego. At the heart of your own town, wouldn’t you want monuments to togetherness and cooperation, rather than affliction, deformities and lonely death?

Propaganda about “satanic panic witch hunts” can blind us to the obvious. If only judging from their tattoos, satanism is popular in Portland. You don’t have to scratch deep. Head down to Dante’s and Voodoo Donuts (sugar-coated celebration of black magic, possibly implicated in human trafficking.)

I’m not religious but I find devil worship shocking. It’s intrinsic in Portland’s embrace of violence perpetrated by Antifa militia. Fighting to destroy our free-speech rights guaranteed by our Constitution’s First Amendment, Antifa feel entitled to smash our skulls because God is not our judge, Antifa are. Taking matters into their own hands (facilitated by Portland’s mayor) is the opposite of honoring God’s grace. Antifa are co-creators of evil.

[Portland gov't racism against white people]

Maybe Icarus just depicts that “Pride goeth before a fall.” Maybe the armless Fortuna statue reminds us that “There, but for the grace of God, go I.”
I’d better go back for more pastry to make up my mind.
